Moringa

hamburg

Under the name “Moringa”, Hamburg's HafenCity is not only building the healthiest high-rise building in the city, but also the first Cradle to Cradle residential building in Germany. The experts from Drees & Sommer and EPEA GmbH are supporting the lighthouse project with comprehensive services.

Moringa is being developed as a pilot project by Landmarken AG, a leading project developer, in collaboration with the Kadawittfeldarchitektur architecture firm. One of the special features of the high-rise residential building is that at least 50 percent of the building consists of healthy and recyclable materials. All other building products are also tested and optimised for their sustainability and impact on health and the environment. In addition, as many green spaces are planned on and on the building as will be built on by the property. These ensure clean air and transform the building into a green oasis.

In addition to ecological factors, the project also focuses on social aspects. This is because around 30 percent of the resulting apartments are subsidized housing. Moringa is thus bringing together sustainable construction and affordable housing in a unique way so far. Co-working and catering spaces as well as a daycare center complement the diverse mix of apartments. In total, the building comprises just over 20,000 square meters of gross floor area.
