In 2011, after intensive research, the Austrian printing and communications company gugler* succeeded in producing printed products in such a way that they can be returned to the biological cycle at the end of their product life cycle. For this, they were awarded the Cradle to Cradle® Silver certification for their PurePrint product group. All substances used in Cradle to Cradle® certified printed products were analyzed together with EPEA. The resulting optimizations focused on criteria for reusing materials.

Paper is a valuable and versatile raw material; these properties must be retained in the recycling process. If the components used in printed products are safe for the biological cycle, then the sewage sludge is from the De-inking Not more waste, but a new nutrient.
